Artwork by Beckie Bray

Commissions.

Sizes: The size of a finished artwork is determined by several things. These include the number of studies in the drawing and the actual subject matter. To give you an idea a normal 'head' portrait of a person will be about 9'' X 12'', but a 'head ' portrait of an animal will be about 10'' X 15''. A full body study of an animal will be about 12'' X 17''. a half body study of a person will be 10'' X 15''. These of course are just guildlines as all portrait sizes will be based on your own personal requirements.

Photographs: If possible I like to borrow as many photographs as I can, all returned, of course. Having many photographs helps me capture the personality of the person or animal. I will try to create each study from one main photograph, but the more photographs for reference the better the finished artwork.

I need at least one good, clear photograph, showing the eyes (very important). This may seem odd, but the eyes are the key to bringing the artwork to life. Also please indicate any particular aspects you would like to be included - or left out! Although I will always be able to correct small aspects, like the positioning of an ear, or laying the mane or tail in an animal portrait, or ridding blemishes in a portrait of a person. You can, of course, leave all decisions to me.

Time: Completion times relate to each commission size and study and work load I have at the particular time. For example, at Christmas approaches, work load may increase, so early ordering is advised. A rough completion time will be given when commission is ordered, but 3 to 4 weeks is the usual.
